Myrrh Gum

Myrrh Gum

Starting at: $8.40

The gum is only partially soluble in water (preferable to use an emulsion here), so when using it in an infusion or decoction, it is best to powder it first. The pieces with white streaks have less oil and are best for emulsions and pills, and the pieces without streaks are more oily and are best for tinctures. The undissolved gum in the tincture makes an excellent adhesive substance.

Myrrh gum has been historically used fo asthma, anemia, bad breath, bronchitis, caries (teeth), profound congestion, cough, fresh cuts, cystitis, chronic diarrhea, spongy and inflamed gums (tender and bleeding), laryngitis, lung and chest affections, suppressed menstruation, diseased mucous surfaces, sore and abraded nipples, chronic pharyngitis, rheumatism (liniment), shock, old sores, sprains, aphthous or sloughy throat, thrush, tuberculosis, ulceration (tongue, mouth, throat), gangrenous ulcers, chronic uterine and vaginal leucorrhea, and wounds.
