Parts used are usually the berries; also the oil (from the berries and wood), leaves, and bark. Juniper traditionally increases the appetite, aids digestion, and increases the flow of urine.

Traditionally Juniper Berry has been used to treat passive congestion of the kidneys, urinary passages, bladder health, strengthener of the brain, memory, and of the optic nerves, swollen joints, rheumatic pains, lumbago, chest problems, bladder discharges, kidney problems (acute or chronic), poisoning, gonorrhea, gleet, scurvy, and immunization.
